Black Hat 2023: Expel is packing for Vegas, baby!

Vulnerabilities, risk, burnout, and HUGE ROI: we have so much to talk about at #BHUSA…

It’s that time again: we’ll be cruising down the strip and setting up shop at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, and you’re invited. Stop by booth #1681 at Black Hat 2023 on August 9th and 10th because we’ve got things to talk about.

For example: you know how your security operations center (SOC) has thousands—and thousands and thousands—of vulnerabilities and it’s almost impossible to know which to address first? As it turns out, knowing where to start isn’t so impossible, after all. The answer is risk-based prioritization (aka Expel® Vulnerability Prioritization), and good news is on the way.

Also, roughly two-thirds of all SOCs use a security information and event management (SIEM) tool. SIEMs are incredibly useful, but as those who manage one can tell you, they’re … demanding. What if there was a way to supercharge your investment and get significantly more out of your SIEM? (Spoiler alert: there is.)

Let’s see, what else?

  • We’ve talked a bit lately about burnout—where it comes from; how it decreases worker effectiveness and increases organizational risk; and how it drives turnover, exacerbating the security industry’s already-dire talent shortage. If this is an issue for your organization—and lots of research says there’s a good chance it may be—we should definitely chat about what a mean alert-to-triage time of three minutes and a mean alert-to-fix ‌time of 22 minutes would mean for you. Also, how would your leadership feel about an ROI of up to 610%?
  • We have some useful thoughts on how to mitigate more risk in less time. Integrations with widely used tech platforms are essential for the modern SOC and we’ve built more than 100 of them (and counting); also, we have 900+ unique detections mapped to the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • How effectively can you address emerging cloud threats across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure? Our custom detection rules identify 98% of the cloud incidents our SOC finds.
  • Would you benefit from 24/7 decision support so you can scale your team and focus on business priorities? How about if your team could waste less time chasing false positives? Let’s chat.

If the hall is too noisy, we can always move to our private suite for a more focused conversation.

We always look forward to Black Hat, and not just for the Vegas, baby! Mainly, we spend 51 weeks a year working on ways to ruin attackers’ lives, and we live for a chance to share the good news with security industry pros, many of whom could use some good news.
