Expel x Google Cloud Next ‘24: pioneering next-gen cloud security

Expel has always worked to push the boundaries of cloud security, so when Google started gathering some of the world’s best and brightest cloud companies and thought leaders together for Google Cloud Next ‘24, we knew we had to be there. So we’re taking our leading managed detection and response (MDR) tech out to Mandalay Bay to show our stuff off to the Google faithful, and preach our approach to cloud security, April 9-11. We’ll be in booth #1563, and also conducting product demonstrations in CapitalG’s booth in the Startup Lounge on Tuesday, April 9, from 2 to 5 pm PT.

Why is this a big event for us? According to our Annual Threat Report, the Expel security operations center (SOC) saw a 72% increase in cloud infrastructure incidents in 2023, and that number will only continue to grow as more organizations embrace the cloud.

And it’s not just that more threat actors are targeting the cloud, it’s also that security teams are struggling to manage their clouds. Clouds are complex, and if you’re using more than one, that complexity increases, especially as you’re dealing with inconsistent security coverage across different providers. And frankly, not every company has the expertise needed to properly manage their cloud security. Given the deluge of alerts cloud providers often generate and send to SOC teams, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, fall behind, and potentially miss an important alert.

Because of these factors, we handle cloud security differently than other MDR providers. We integrate directly with cloud-native application protection platforms (CNAPPs), cloud workload protection platforms (CWPPs), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to deliver holistic cloud detection and response, and protect against ever-increasing cloud threats.

By delivering real-time monitoring of cloud security products, cloud workloads, and the control plane itself, we gain unmatched security insight into cloud environments to identify and stop threats before they escalate. Our security experts write high-fidelity detections tailored to cloud environments, investigate threats across cloud and traditional environments, and provide clear response guidance to help customers rapidly contain threats.

So if you’ll be at Google Cloud Next ‘24 and swing by our booth, we’d love to talk with you about our approach to security in GCP. (Better yet, you can see our MDR in action at CapitalG’s space.) When you visit, you can pick up our GCP mind map, an easy-to-use tool that maps MITRE ATT&CK tactics to cloud API calls and actions to show the paths attackers often take when accessing GCP environments. The full GCP mind map kit includes the map graphic, a defender’s cheat sheet that shows you how to use the mind map and better understand the tactics, techniques, and API calls that could be involved in an attack, and an editable map you can use to customize for your own needs.
