TL;DR

  • Irving B., MDR Manager, is a new hire we’re featuring in our Meet the Expletive series
  • He volunteered to be interviewed as a new hire to promote corporate cheer and merriment
  • He has thoughts on what’s for dinner

A mock innie resignation request from Irving B.

Irving Bailiff, who prefers to go by the moniker Irving B., was recently on the hunt for a new MDR role and came across Expel. With a bit of wit and whimsy, he landed a new role as an MDR manager, and was willing to sit down with us as the latest interviewee in our Meet the Expletive blog series, in the name of company cheer and merriment.

Corporate fulfillment prior to Expel

Irving B. found Expel after a stint in the biotechnology industry, which was a natural jump for him. While he came from regimented corporate methodologies and proficiencies, he’s ready to tackle his new role with fervor—because his work is mysterious and important.

He shared that while his previous job experience was a bit fuzzy to recall after a dreadful Outdoor Retreat and Team Building Occurrence (ORTBO), he’s ready to establish harmony in his new role with his colleagues via seamless collaboration to ensure peak enterprise success.

While his unknown work history fills him with woe, he was able to share a bit about his most recent role in MDR at Lumon Industries, where he excelled among his splendid colleagues.

“It’s an unnatural state for a person to have no history. History makes us someone. Gives us context. But then I learned that I worked for a company that has been actively caring for mankind since 1866.” Irving B. shared.

Initial reflections (and thoughts on the handbook)

When asked what drew him to working for Expel, Irving B. highlighted its commitment to fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and mutual understanding.

“From what I’ve seen so far, Expel has a real vision to their practices that seem to ensure an orderly, harmonious workplace. Everyone I’ve met so far has a distinct verve and wit about them that makes this place just splendid.” He continued. “While this industry is full of malice, each neighborly acquaintance is filled with renewed cheer for work each day, and it’s delightful. But this isn’t a company without its humility, either. Everyone is equally responsible for contributing to the efficiency and demeanor of the company‌, on both good and bad days. After just a few days of meticulously reviewing my onboarding materials, I’ve picked up on both a nimbleness to Expel’s approach, and just the right wiles to get the job done. I’ve also learned that everyone assumes benevolence with their actions, and that makes the work days pass with satisfaction.”

When asked what he would improve, two things immediately came to mind for Irving B. “While my tenure is miniscule to date, I would love to see a bit more humility from Expel, but then again, everyone has room for improvement. I also wouldn’t mind a physical copy of the handbook—that leaves a bit to be desired, but at least it doesn’t manifest dread.”

Fun facts and a very important question

When asked to share a fun fact or two about himself, Irving B. had to ponder deeply to formulate his response. After a moment of pause, he shared a few things he’d been told previously by a wellness counselor in the hopes it was a satisfactory answer. Irving B. is a powerful swimmer and popular dancer. He likes the sound of radar. He is fond of movies and has a machine that can play them. He is also fond of records. (Good news Irving B., we have Slack channels for all of those interests!)

As part of his official welcome to Expel,  we posed a very important question to him: “Hi kid, what’s for dinner?”

After a moment of silence punctuated with a smirk, his response was, “that’s almost as funny as interrupting announcements. With gas having.”

We welcome you to Expel with outstretched arms and bounties of cheer, Irving B.!
