Great Place to Work has included Expel on several impressive Best Workplace lists. Maybe your future is here?

Maybe you’re thinking about the next step in your professional future, contemplating a career change, or you’re an established cybersecurity pro looking to make a move. In any career move, you probably want to work for a great company. A place where you can learn, show up for work true to yourself (whether that’s in an office or from your kitchen table) and feel valued for your unique contributions.

If that sounds like you, or someone you know, then you’ve come to the right place.

This year, Expel was named to five Best Workplaces lists by Great Place to Work®. Have a look:

Many of us have unfortunately spent time with organizations that talk the talk better than they walk the walk. Expel is different because culture and the employee experience is baked into our foundational principles.

One of Expel’s most important values is “take care of our people first.” It’s a core part of who we are now, who we’ve always been, and how we carry that into our communities. At the heart of it, we believe that if we take care of our people, they’ll take care of our customers—and we practice what we preach.

The 2022 (ISC)² Cybersecurity Workforce Study says there’s a global shortage of 3.4 million security professionals (that’s roughly the population of Utah) and a 2022 Help Net Security report found “an average security staff turnover rate of 20%.

In other words, people have choices, and you don’t become an industry leader without great people working well together. So the choice is yours: either invest in the time, energy, and resources it takes to build an intentional culture, or don’t be surprised when folks head for the door. We’ve chosen to be intentional.

About these awards

As you can imagine, best workplaces lists are really competitive. Great Place to Work relies on rigorous analytics and confidential employee feedback, and companies are only considered if they‘re Great Place to Work-Certified™. Among their findings for 2023:

  • 99% of Expletives (that’s what we call ourselves) said management is honest and ethical in its business practices.
  • 99% said they were made to feel welcome when they joined the company.
  • 98% were proud to tell others they work here.

When we told our CEO, Dave Merkel (aka merk) about these recognitions he was understandably pleased. “But let’s not declare ‘mission accomplished’ just yet,” he said. “I want us to be number one on all the lists.”

And the only way to do that is to be an even better place to work. Game on.
