Herndon, Va. — October 23, 2019 — Expel, the leader in making customers smile when they hear the term “managed security,” was named by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE as one of the 2019 Best Medium Workplaces.

To determine the list, Great Place to Work analyzed anonymous survey feedback representing more than 189,000 employees at Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations. Employees responded to more than 60 survey questions anonymously rating their employers.

“When we founded Expel we wanted to foster autonomy and a sense of personal ownership,” said Yanek Korff, chief operating officer at Expel. “You can’t do that with a bunch of rules and you certainly can’t get there when you treat employees like ‘human resources.’ We treat people like people, let them flex where and how they like to work and ensure that work is aligned with what our customers want. The rest works itself out.”

Expel is flipping today’s managed security model on its head (Ouch!) by taking a technology-driven approach that lets analysts focus on what humans do best: exercise judgement and manage relationships. The company offers 24×7 monitoring through its security operations center-as-a-service, using the security tools customers already have in place. Expel then helps customers make better, faster decisions about security issues by giving them real answers and specific recommendations instead of repackaging customers’ alerts and tossing them back in their laps. Expel also offers practical advice on how to prevent issues from happening over and over again.

1Editor’s note –The following buzzwords were meticulously removed from this press release in no particular order: market-leading, next-generation, military-grade intelligence, artificial intelligence, leveraging, powerful, platform, scalable, robust, changing threat landscape, end-to-end, actionable, AI, real-time, machine learning, state-of-the-art, best-of-breed, elite, continuous, and purpose-built. We did, however, flip an inefficient managed security model on its head (Got a helmet?).
